Ruffian's Corner
11.20.2003
What ever happened to Tir nan-Og??! Remember that place? It's the land where you never get old, never feel pain, remain young forever. It is the land that was taken for "Never never land" in the fabled Peter Pan. That's right, all of those great ideas and dreams came from the Gaelic stories of old. Well welcome to Tir nan-Og again. It's called the Ruffians. A place where for a few precious hours of escape, you can be young again. You can poke the banker's wife, you can get up on your chair and yell, you can run around and yell and dance and drink, and maybe if you're lucky, he or she will take you home and you can whisper a silent thank you to the Ruffians later on. This Saturday is Tir nan-Og in good ol Connecticut. Time to run around at the Playwright, time to mix the name of this bringer of story and make believe, with the lads who won't grow up, time to dust off the dancing shoes, get out the cobwebby ol livers, and time to practice those lines like: "So ya got any Irish inya? Ya want some?" It's all here with whistles and bells. Speaking of the Playwright, hope to see some of our pals there from times long gone like Andy, Thomas, the beautiful Irish dancers Margie and Fionnuala. Hope to catch up with some of the old gang from Black Rock (Sheila and the gang) and Hartford (Suzette and the gang). I tink it be time to rip up CT!! (again) Speaking of ripping stuff up, we've had a great last couple of weeks (minus the five big guys in masks that jumped me and cut my hair) in Baltimore and Rocky's. Quick shout outs to Liz, Gina and Amber at Rocky's and best of luck with the "Underrated Magazine" due out in Dec. It's gonna be hot. Check out a quote from the illustrious leader of the band, Sean Griffin. Hello to Timmy Mack, Kevin Berry, Tom and Teresa, Temmy, Seth, and Brian. Great energy guys and we look forward to seeing you all again soon. Thanks to the great guys from the Alarm (that's right, the super hot band The Alarm playing at Knitting Factory this Monday) for checking us out. Hopefully we'll see Steve again with Stiff Little Fingers (and us?!!). Thanks to to Jeannelle (sorry on the spelling), Jamie and Amy too, and of course the boys from LI. Thanks to all the great people from Baltimore (it's becoming too many to mention, they're like that early morning swig of Jameson-- phew...hot), but a quick hello to Bambi, Tiffany, Mel, and Bethee (our love always). Thanks to all the State troopers lately. I'm glad to see that you guys miss me so much that now that you're not calling me into the station every other day, that you're pulling me over once a week to chat. That's hot. But seriously, thanks for letting me keep going to the gigs, I'll get that license soon. Well that's about it for now. Great things are afoot. Great new manager-- Kate (who can drink with the boys. Her, Joe, Sean and I went to see the Alarm on Monday. Very cool. Also enjoyed Rank Music from Canada. check them out some time) is kicking ass along with Alice and Liz (and of course always J. See, you think just cuz you're like the Wizard of Oz that I don't realize you're there around us like some diety in cyberspace...I feel ya!). So where was I? Oh yes, I got some of the old noggin rug shaved for an important meeting last week, but it's coming back quick!! I promise. Have to give Sean something to grab onto when I'm not paying attention now that he promised not to kick me anymore. So who loves the hat. I've been getting fan mail that people keep dreaming of my hat on their floor, what's that all about. People are gonna get jealous!! But hey, the boys from LI are always happy to stand in for a little BJ&J in my place. One more quick hello to Chris. Thanks for all the support at Rocky's and for your belief in us, it means a lot. (Hey Rach!). thanks to Alice, my snail Guinness, my hermit crab Mugsy, Shabadoo the rat, and Mattie, wherever you are puking in a bar somewhere, I'm with ya in spirit. Peace out!! Slainte! Dan The Playwright is upon us.I hope you are all well hydrated because I have a date with Nancy Whiskey and she'll take you for all your worth. 11.19.2003 how's it going you bastards....It's been abit of time since I dropped you a line.I'd like to tell you I was on a great bender and fell off the planet but...Wait that is what happened. We had a great time in baltimore and last week at Rocky Sullivans had some surprise visitors from the spirit of 77. Anyway it's getting towards Christmas and it's time to crack out the old ruffians classic"Together for Christmas". Santa will be back boozing with the boys in style. 11.3.2003 Dan cut his hair...scary. Happy Halloween to everyone and thanks to all at Rocky's on Sunday.Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming Saturday Rocky Sullivan's shows!
